This product is intended to permanently repair a cracked and/or inward bowed foundation wall and to prevent the wall from tipping in at the top. The straps will not remove the crack or bow in the foundation wall but permanently prevent the wall from bowing in any further and prevent the top of the wall from tipping in any further. The straps act as steel reinforcement on the interior face of the wall. Since the straps resist stretching the wall is unable to bow inward any further. The straps are secured to the wall at the top and bottom using a 3/8” diameter concrete expansion anchor. The straps are anchored to each wall between the top and bottom bolt by epoxying in 3/8” diameter bolts. The top of the straps are anchored to the sill plate using two ¼” diameter x 1.5” long structural screws.
The straps are designed to resist any further wall movement for a wall up to 8’ tall with a backfill height of 8’ (earth even with top of exterior side of wall) for up to class III soils (60 PSF lateral load); class III soils are usually the worst soils encountered. The straps are designed to be spaced at 16” on center. If walls are less than 8’, the bottom excess length of the strap can be trimmed off.
The straps are galvanized steel, 1.25” wide, 0.31” thick and 8’-6” long and come pre-drilled with the holes. The product comes complete will all of the bolting hardware and epoxy. The hardware is galvanized steel.
